We are moving to a bigger warehouse, and taking on new customers again

Waypoint moves into a larger unit in Thurrock on December 1st. Orders carry on going out through the move, prices are unchanged, and the merchants we have had to turn away this year are worth asking again.

A bigger unit, from December 1st

Waypoint is moving into a larger warehouse on December 1st. We are staying in Thurrock, on the same stretch of Essex that put us here in the first place, so London Gateway and Tilbury remain minutes away and the orbital motorway is still the road every parcel leaves on. What changes is the amount of room behind the door.

The honest reason for the move is that we ran out of space sooner than we expected to. For most of this year the limit on taking a new customer has not been the people or the software, it has been where their pallets would go. A warehouse that is full is a warehouse that has to start saying no, and we would rather move than keep saying it.

If you already ship with us

Your orders carry on going out through the move. The work is being sequenced around the dispatch day rather than the other way round, so picking continues while stock is relocated in stages rather than all at once.

Nothing changes on your side. The portal is the same portal, your API keys and your store connection keep working, and your account manager does not change. Shelf locations will update in the portal as stock is put away in the new unit, which is the only difference you are likely to notice, and it happens on our side of the glass.

If any part of the move would affect your orders on a particular day, your account manager will tell you before it happens rather than afterwards. That is the part we would want to be told about, so it is the part we have planned around.

If we have had to say no

We are taking on new customers again. If you enquired earlier this year and we asked you to wait, or told you we could not take your volume, that answer has changed and it is worth asking again.

The same is true if you are already with us and have been holding back on a range because you were not sure we had the room for it. We do now, and growing into it is easier to plan when the space is already there.

What is not changing

The rate card is the rate card. A bigger building is our problem to pay for, not something to pass on in a storage line, and the published prices are unchanged by the move.

We are still a warehouse rather than a broker, still running our own system rather than reselling somebody else's, and the warehouse address stays off the website for the same reason it always has. Merchants who need it have it from their account manager.

The short version

  • A larger unit, still in Thurrock, from December 1st.
  • Orders keep going out through the move, and nothing changes in your portal or your store connection.
  • We can take on new customers again, and existing merchants have room to grow into.
  • Prices are unchanged.

If you have been waiting on us, tell us what you ship and we will give you a straight answer on whether we can take it. If you already ship with us and have a question about the move, your account manager's name and number are on your dashboard.
