The physical core of order fulfilment

Pick and Pack Fulfilment Services

Every order picked against its SKU, checked before the box is sealed, and dispatched the same day it is placed.

It sounds like the simple part.

It is where most fulfilment errors actually happen, which is why the process matters more than the pitch.

We pick and pack from our warehouse in Essex, just outside London. Every order is picked against its SKU, packed and checked, and dispatched the same day it is placed - for brands sending a handful of orders a week through to several thousand.

Pick and pack is the physical core of order fulfilment: finding the right stock and getting it securely into a parcel. Everything a customer thinks about your delivery is decided in those two minutes.

What is pick and pack fulfilment?

Two steps, and both of them are checks as much as they are jobs.

Pick and pack is the warehouse process that runs after a customer places an order: picking, where the right item is located and taken from storage, and packing, where it is prepared securely for its journey. It is one part of the wider process, which also covers goods-in, stock management, carriage and returns - our eCommerce fulfilment services page covers how the parts fit together.

How our pick and pack process works.

The same two steps on every order, whatever is in it.

Pick

Your order arrives from your store and goes straight onto a pick list, scanned against the SKU as it is collected - so the thing that leaves the shelf is the thing the customer ordered.
Stock being wrapped and labelled for dispatch in the warehouse

Pack

Packed in your own branded materials or ours, labelled, and checked against the order before the box is sealed. Kitting, bundling and bespoke packaging are built into the same line rather than handled afterwards.

Picking methods we use.

We match the method to your orders, not the other way round.

Piece picking

One order at a time

A picker completes one order in full before starting the next. Slowest per order, hardest to get wrong - which is what low volumes and high-value or complicated orders want.

Batch picking

Several orders in one run

Items for a group of orders are collected together in a single walk, then split back out at the packing bench. The standard approach at medium to high daily volumes.

Zone picking

A picker per area

The warehouse is split into zones with a dedicated picker in each, and an order is assembled from the parts each zone contributes. Suits a wide product range.

Wave picking

Timed to the courier

Batches are released in planned bursts timed to collection slots, so parcels are finished as the van arrives rather than sitting sealed on a bay. The most efficient at scale.

Most accounts sit on batch picking and move to waves as volume and courier collections make that worth doing. If your orders are unusual - very large baskets, fragile items, anything needing assembly - say so early and we will tell you which way we would run it.

Packing standards and materials.

Checked before it is sealed, not after it is already on the dispatch shelf.

Your materials or ours. Branded boxes, mailers and inserts you supply, or our standard packaging if you have none - the customer sees your brand either way.
Checked against the order while the box is still open, which is the only point at which a mistake is cheap to fix.
Kitting in the pick line. Subscription boxes, bundles and relabelling are assembled as the order is picked, so nothing is handled twice.
Packed for the journey it is making. A fragile item going to the Highlands is not packed like a t-shirt going to Croydon.

The technology behind accurate pick and pack.

A scan at the shelf is worth more than a promise on a website.

Every pick scanned against the SKU

Every pick is scanned against the SKU. That single act is what makes the pick verifiable and what keeps the stock count honest at the same time.

Scanned against the SKU, so a mis-pick is caught at the shelf rather than at the customer's door.
The count moves as the item does. Stock stays live to batch and expiry level, synced to every channel - see inventory management.
Orders arrive on their own. Shopify, Adobe Commerce and WooCommerce sync both ways, so nothing is rekeyed between your store and the floor.
Tracking goes back automatically the moment a label prints, into your store and into your customer's usual shipping email.

Pick and pack, asked and answered.

What is the difference between pick and pack and order fulfilment?

Pick and pack is the physical process of locating an order and preparing it for shipment. Order fulfilment is the wider process around it - goods-in, stock management, carriage and returns. Pick and pack sits inside it.

What packing materials do you use?

We can pack in materials you supply, such as your own branded boxes or mailers, or use our own standard packaging if you do not have your own.

How accurate is your pick and pack service?

Every item is scanned against its SKU at the point of picking, and the packed order is checked against the order before the box is sealed. Those two checks are what keep mis-picks and mis-packs down.

Can pick and pack handle kitting or subscription boxes?

Yes. Kitting, bundling, relabelling and subscription box assembly are built into the pick line rather than treated as a separate service afterwards.

Do you offer pick and pack fulfilment for small businesses?

Yes, and there is no minimum order volume. Brands shipping a small number of parcels a week are on the same process and the same rate card as larger accounts.
